• Dell hardware failure, such as a bad hard drive, which has corrupted the MSCOMCT2.OCX file. • Another program overwrote the required version of MSCOMCT2.OCX. • Another program maliciously or mistakenly deleted the MSCOMCT2.OCX file. • Another program uninstalled the MSCOMCT2.OCX file. Caution: We do not recommend downloading MSCOMCT2.OCX from 'OCX download' sites. These sites distribute OCX files that are unapproved by the official MSCOMCT2.OCX file developer, and can often be bundled with virus-infected or other malicious files. If you require a copy of MSCOMCT2.OCX, it is recommended that you obtain it directly from Dell.

The ActiveX SDK ships with MakeCert, a utility for creating test certificates. Containers determine the palette and make it available as an ambient property, DISPID_AMBIENT_PALETTE. A container (for example, Internet Explorer) chooses a palette that is used by all ActiveX controls on a page to determine their own palette. This prevents display flickering and presents a consistent appearance. A control can override OnAmbientPropertyChange to handle notification of changes to the palette. A control can override OnGetColorSet to return a color set to draw the palette. Containers use the return value to determine if a control is palette-aware.

When I use the Access properties window, place the cursor in a property value and press F1 to learn more about the property, I get the usual tired MS help screen that is nothing more than a regurgiation of the control name spelled out, or no help at all. If I use the custom properties dialog via the control context menu, and click the help button on that screen, I am told I'm missing the cmctl298.chm file in the WOW64 folder. I thought maybe this was an old '64-bit install doesn't register correctly' issue, but I've searched my hard drive, and there is no such file. I've done the Google, MSDN, and TechNet dances, but I am not having any luck finding this help file so far from a source I know and trust. There are always places on the web that claim to have any file one looks for, but I won't install MS products from any source other than Microsoft. Been there, done that, been burned. I have every version of Windows, Office, and VS that has ever been released.

Under OCX 96 guidelines, a control must always realize its palette in the background. Older containers that do not use the ambient palette property will send WM_QUERYNEWPALETTE and WM_PALETTECHANGED messages. A control can override OnQueryNewPalette and OnPaletteChanged to handle these messages. A browser has options for safety level, configurable by the user. Because Web pages can contain active content that might potentially harm a user's computer, browsers allow the user to select options for safety level. Depending on the way a browser implements safety levels, a control may not be downloaded at all, or will display a certificate or a warning message to allow the user to choose at run time whether or not to download the control.

I hope this helps! Sharon M, Microsoft Online Community Support. Hi Sharon, This did not work at all. I downloaded MSCOMCT2.ocx.

When you install software that uses the MSCOMCT2.OCX dependency, the software should automatically register the file for you. In some cases your OCX file may not register properly, and as a result, will provide a 'MSCOMCT2.OCX not registered' error. Fortunately, you can use a built-in utility called 'Microsoft Register Server' (regsvr32.exe) to re-register your MSCOMCT2.OCX file. How to re-register MSCOMCT2.OCX from an elevated command prompt ( Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, and 10): • Click the Start button.

• Enter any administrator passwords (if prompted). • Follow the steps in the Wizard to choose a restore point. • Restore your computer. Microsoft is constantly updating and improving Windows system files that could be associated with MSCOMCT2.OCX. Sometimes resolving your OCX problems may be as simple as updating Windows with the latest Service Pack or other patch that Microsoft releases on an ongoing basis. To check for Windows Updates (Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, and 10): • Click the Start button. • Type ' update' into the search box and hit ENTER.

In Vista it's different from everything that went before (of course!) so you need to use the ORGANISE button in the explorer window then the 'Folder and search options' to change the view so that the file extensions for known file types are not hidden. When you have established that the DOIT.BAT really is a bat file, you can right click on the DOIT.BAT file in explorer and use the RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR option. The files are then copied into the system32 folder.

I am trying to register MSCOMM32.OCX on my 64-bit Windows 7 machine. However, as I try to register it using regsvr32 as shown in the command window below, I am getting shown error popup. What am I missing here? Why is this component not getting registered? Or this is not the correct way to include MSCOMM control in MS Excel VBA?

Mainstream Support for Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 ended on March 31, 2005. However, we are releasing this non-security related package because it contains improvements that were ready for release just prior to the end of Mainstream Support. Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 has transitioned to Extended Support which runs through March 31, 2008.

If you don't have this file, you can download it from the following location: Once you download the file, you'll need to extract the files and then register the OCX file. You will likely need to open the command prompt as administrator in order to get the file to register successfully. Here are the steps in case you need them. * Go to Start All Programs Accessories. * Right-click Command Prompt and then click on Run As Administrator. * Change directory to the folder where you extracted the files. For example, type the following and then press Enter: cd c: windows system32 * Type the following and then press Enter: regsvr32 mscomct2.ocx * You should get a message saying this succeeded.

I think that the way i install these OCX is not very goob. Does somebody knows how to install them 'by the correct way'?

This step is your final option in trying to resolve your MSCOMCT2.OCX issue. Reinstalling Windows will erase everything from your hard drive, allowing you to start again with a fresh system. Furthermore, a clean install of Windows will also quickly clean out any and all 'junk' that has accumulated over the normal usage of your computer. ActiveX controls are tiny programs, sometimes called 'add-ons', that are used on websites and in software applications. ActiveX controls are often encountered when using a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Chrome. If you open a web page embedded with a video in the Window Media (.WMV) file format, your web browser uses a built-in ActiveX control that allows you to view the video directly on the web page, rather than having to load that file separately in Windows Media Player. Why Do I Have OCX Errors? OCX / ActiveX / MSCOMCT2.OCX errors generally occur because your web browser or program (eg.

I have read following: But to no avail. Here is what I have read about mscomct2.ocx. I have not verified anything. Mscomct2.ocx is an activex calendar control. You can obtain an up to date version of mscomct2.ocx from. 32-bit windows, such as XP, have mscomct2.ocx in c: windows system32.

The behavior of ActiveX controls under high, medium, and low safety levels on Internet Explorer is listed below. High Safety Mode • Unsigned controls will not be downloaded. • Signed controls will display a certificate if untrusted (a user can choose an option to always trust code from this certificate owner from now on). • Only controls marked as safe will have persistent data and/or be scriptable.

If there is a more modern control I should be using, I'm good with it, as long as I do not have to install anything at the system level on the client machines (there are thousands of them all over the world with centralized IT managed from another country, so I cannot add or subtract from the Windows installation, and cannot install updates to Windows or Office). Thanks in advance to anyone who has some direction for me on this one.
